Buyers notice these outdated items!

When selling a home, what outdated items do buyers REALLY notice? Let’s face it, who wants to renovate their whole house in the middle of finding a new home, packing, and all the other headaches that come with selling a home? Selling is exhausting, stressful, and it can be costly.

So let’s try for the easiest, fastest, and most cost-effective ways to update our home to bring more interest from buyers. It does not have to be hard! There are a lot of ways to make your home inviting and interesting to capture a buyer’s attention. And really, the best and easiest way is to declutter, declutter, declutter! Here is my Checklist for Preparing Your Home for Sale that I give to all home sellers to prepare their home for the market. It also includes the last-minute things you need to do before each showing. Keeping your home in showcase condition isn’t fun, but it will pay off in the long run!

Besides cleaning and decluttering, there are tale-tell things buyers can’t help but notice during showings. Here are just a few:

Carpet
Replacing old carpet is a quick way to add value to your home! Not only is it an instant update, but it also makes the home feel clean. There’s just something about that new carpet smell that is appealing…not to mention the softness underfoot. Even inexpensive carpet can perk up a home!

Popcorn Ceilings
Buyers almost always notice popcorn ceilings. Popcorn ceilings are outdated and, whether accurate or not, are linked with asbestos. See this article for advice on dealing with popcorn ceilings.
