Things to Do

Colfax is a fantastic place to explore, with plenty of exciting attractions and venues. Among the many things to try in the area, the Palouse Empire Fair draws in new and longtime residents as well as visitors from all over. The fair includes all sorts of exciting activities, such as carnival rides, agricultural demonstrations, and a fun fireworks display at night. 

Mother Joseph Pariseau commissioned the construction of St. Ignatius Hospital in 1893. St. Ignatius operated as the hospital for Whitman County until it was closed in 1968. Today, thanks to local volunteers, St. Ignatius Hospital offers "haunted hospital" group tours, in addition to history excursions and even private investigations. The proceeds go toward maintaining and preserving St. Ignatius Church, and there are only a certain number of dates available, so visitors should be sure to book in advance.
